Adopt-A-Servicemoney

Based on the popular "Adopt-a-Highway" programs that provide for the care and maintenance of our nation's roads, Thermal Belt Outreach has created an "Adopt-a-Service" program to support the care and giving provided by Outreach to those in crisis situations in our community and to help them toward self-sufficiency.

To adopt one of the services, simply give a contribution and let us know which service you want to adopt. (Please note that donations support the overall efforts of Thermal Belt Outreach.)

Check the service you want to adopt from our “Adopt-A-Service” section. Your contribution makes it possible for us to continue several vitally important services. These programs help us to reach those in need of assistance in our community each and every day of the year. We hope you agree this project deserves your
special support. (download form)

Each August, Outreach holds its annual fund drive to support the ongoing expenses of the organization.  Supporters are encourage to pledge a monthly, quarterly, or annual donation. (download form)

Back-to-School Supplies

School starts near the end of August. late July is the time for the Outreach to purchase school supplies for our disadvantaged children in Polk County. We estimate 350 children from kindergarten through high school that will be picking up basic school supplies. Children in grades one through six will also be getting backpacks.

The most cost-effective method for us is to purchase these items in bulk. We estimate this year’s cost to be $1,800. If you would like to donate to our general fund to support this project, please make your check payable to Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry. There is no
need to specify anything in your memo field.

Giving Thanks and Sharing Joy

Thermal Belt Outreach continues its tradition of providing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with all the trimmings to those less fortunate.  Vouchers for complete dinners include turkey, stuffing, mixed vegetables, potatoes, cranberry sauce and dessert.

Yearly, we distribute Thanksgiving dinners for around 375 families (more than 1,000 individuals). As a rule of thumb, a complete dinner for an average family costs $30. We also distribute Salvation Army Christmas food boxes.

Angel Trees are distributed in mid-November to churches and other groups.  An average of 300 children and elderly people qualify based on need each year to be "an angel".  For many, these are the only Christmas presents they receive.  A client Christmas party is held in mid-December where Santa hands out the gifts.

Please take time to look around your Polk County neighborhood and community. Do you know of an individual or a family who are facing financial difficulties and could benefit from help? Outreach can assist with food for Thanksgiving or Christmas and can lift their spirits by distributing Christmas presents for themselves or their children. Please let them know that help is at hand. Have them call us to receive an application.

You can help, too by participating in our Angel Tree Christmas present program and by contributing to the Holiday dinner program. (download form)

Memorial/Honor Gifts

We are sometimes asked how people can help Thermal Belt Outreach either through their will or through memorial giving. There are a number of ways in which you may create a personal memorial to help maintain the services of the Outreach Ministry into the future.

Immediate gifts of investment assets can result in significant tax savings, thus resulting in multiplying your contribution.

A memorial bequest through your will is often the ideal way to make a
significant gift, and to memorialize your own life or the life of someone close to you. You can also use a living trust to establish a memorial, or make the Ministry the beneficiary of a financial account.

Whether you are honoring the memory of a loved one, sharing in the joy of a family celebration, or sending best wishes to a friend, your generosity will give the greatest gift of all -- hope.

Memorial and Honor Gifts provide a perfect opportunity to commemorate a loved one, or to honor a special occasion (anniversary, graduation, birthday, etc.). Your donation will be combined with others to aid in the ongoing operation of Outreach. Your tax-deductible gift will be promptly acknowledged, and the honoree will receive a special card notifying them of your thoughtful gift. (download form)
